The Challenge
UK to Africa

2 Million Revolutions from Home was formed by Matthew in October 2008. Joining him in the team are Malcolm Bell, Bernie Hollywood and his father Howard Norton. The four play an equal part in the planning of the challenge.
On April 26th 2011, the Cycle for Africa team will be heading onto the road for a new journey. A once in a lifetime opportunity and a challenge to push people to the edge - the ride will see the team leaving the Yorkshire town of Holmfirth in the UK and cycling 1700 miles into Africa.
Leaving their home, the journey will head south to Portsmouth where they will cross into France. Travelling through the length of France, the ride will then cross the Pyrenes before navigating the length of Spain. At Gibraltar, the team will pass into a new continent where their end distination of Africa will be achieved.
Not many people will ever face such a challenge, and heading through regions that nobody in the team has ever ventured as well as camping along the way,the challenge is bigger than ever. The aim is to promote MHPF, whilst showing people how close Africa is to us all. Africa is not a million miles away...and as Lenny Henry once said "This is your doorstep".
The purpose of the ride is to publicise the work of the Maasai Heritage Preservation Foundation. As well as raising critical funds for the Foundation, it is hoped that the journey will capture the imagination and gain public interest. It is critical for the Foundation that the world are aware of the work that they are doing and for the Foundation to gain more financial support. Only then can more excellent work continue.

We have also teamed up with Zubed to bring all friends of MHPF UK and Cycle for Africa a great interactive experience in following the team. The interactive map will allow you to see where the team are en-route and will also show real-time pictures of the team as they take on their enormous challenge. Make sure that you check out the 'route' section of this site from April to see this interactive opportunity and get behind the team!
